“Helping At a School event -Nathan Thao”

The boom boom card I did was number 8, which was Attend a school attendance that traditionally has low attendance. On January 31, 2012, me and some other WEB leaders helped out at our schools Sixth and Seventh grade showcase at BCMS. Before the showcase started, we got together and we talked about what we were suppose to do and not to do, we also made signs so that it would easier for families to find places if they didn’t have a tour guide. Me and some other WEB leaders stayed or came back. When it was time, we went to our stations where we either gave them snacks, gave tours, helped with the staff members with their stands, or told families about the media center. We were divided into groups of about 10. Each group had a station they had to stay at. We had stations that we went to every 20-25 minutes. My first station was the Café. In the Café, my group and me put some cups of juice, water and some cookies out for the families that come to the showcase. There weren’t many families that came to the showcase but we were able to tell a little about our school to the families that came. It was fun because I was able to tell incoming students and families about why Battle Creek is a good school. Even though there weren’t many people that came, we still were able to tell them about our school and the opportunities we have such as After School, WEB, and many more. We also told about what our school policy was and what the classes we had. It was something that I was happy about because I was able to be a better leader and have more experiences that can help me be a better leader.
