“Lessons of history”

I wrote a letter to my former history master. I didn't particularly like him while I was at school but he did get me through my exams and on the last night of school he saved my bacon, big time.

Having selected the card about thanking a teacher for their influence in my life, I chose to write to him and thank him for what he did back then. I left school in 1969 so there is a gap of 40 years here.

Yesterday I received a reply from his son. My history teacher died last year and although he didn't receive my letter, the energy of the message would be with him.

If not for that card.......

Wow, this is fantastic. I can only imagine how touched and proud his son was to get your letter. What a gift for him to know that his father left such an impact and that 40 years later, it still means something to you. No better way to honor someone who has died than to let others know of their legacy. Such a great Boom Boom!

P.S. I am not sure how he "saved your bacon" but I love the term and am going to adopt it! It's great.

Good Morning MB

Great to hear from you. Apologies for my use of English idioms - If someone 'saves your bacon', they either save your life or rescue you from a desperate situation (in my case).

You are spot on (oops there's another!) about the 'toughed and proud' his son must have been. Kinda makes your heart go boom boom!

Thanks for the "English" lesson! I already used "save my bacon" once today and what's great is that no one asked me what it meant, they just knew!

Also, your saying that the experience of doing this card made "your heart go Boom Boom!" gave me a whole new way to look at the term. Silly enough, I'd never thought of Boom Boom! that way before. Won't think of it any other way now. Thanks for that too!

Won't it be amazing for you to watch your Boom Boom! baby grow with so many different perspectives on life?
