“That was a nice thing to say.........”

I did the card "Give 5 genuine compliments". It wasnt as easy as I thought it was going to be. Until I realized sometimes we give compliments without even speaking a word.

One of the compliments I gave was this: The company I work for had an afterhours gathering. They ordered flowers, had catering, the whole works. The event was on a Tuesday and by Friday the beautiful flowers centerpiece was still in our cafeteria. People had come up to me (as I am the receptionist and sit at ground zero of the company and of course all knowing) and they had asked what was to become of the centerpiece since it still looked in good shape. There then were a few people asking about it. So I called the person who was in charge of coordinating the party to see if she had speacial plans for it and she said "First Come; First Serve". Okay. So now who do I give it to because the people asking for it came sporadically throughout the day. I didnt remember who was first. I thought of a lady I work with. I said to myself "Anne is someone that will take good care of this centerpiece. I will call her and see if she wants to take it home". So I called her and she was overjoyed to be able to take it home.

The compliment came by me thinking of her first as someone who would be perfect to care for flowers. Without having to tell her "I think you would care for flowers well".

So the next time someone thinks of me for something that is a way of complimenting me and I should feel good that I was thought of first. :-) It's a great feeling.
