“Clean It Up!”

When I chose this particular card my stomach dropped a little. My card suggested that I go to an open lot, an alley, a park, or a street that is full of garbage and clean it up. I'm kind of a germa-phobe, so the thought of cleaning up other people's trash gets me going in a little frenzy. Then I thought about it for a while. I'f I'm a germa-phobe and I like things to be clean, then this task would be perfect for me; I get to pick up garbage only to make the area cleaner. I keep my car on Chestnut St. in Oneonta in a little lot and it isfull of garbage, I couldn't stand it. So Friday afternoon around 2pm before I took a weekend trip to Albany, I walked around the lot and picked up a bunch of garbage, with gloves of course. When I finished, I looked around and smiled, because clean environments make me happy. I had hoped this would show the other people who park their cars there that the area looks a heck of a lot better all picked up and garbage free, but unfortunately it didn't. When I returned to park my car in the lot early this morning (Monday February 20th)there was garbage everywhere. I think that most people would say to themselves "Well if no one is going to appreciate this, I'm not cleaning it up anymore," but that's not what I'm going to do. Because I enjoy seeing areas clean, I'm going to continue to pick up the garbage people throw in the lot. There is no need for the environment to suffer because some people are lazy and ungrateful for the beautiful Earth we live on.
