“A Running Stop”

3 people think this is Nice!

I had just gone through all my Boom Boom cards on Monday and was thinking about which one to start with and i just couldn't decide... Then on Tuesday the card picked me!! Everyday when i get home from school I immediately change and go for a run to destress and process the day. I was about half way through my run and in my own little running world when I saw a 8 or 9 year old kid walking down the street with tears running down his cheeks. I saw 3 other people pass him by and not even ask if he was ok? As I passed him I stopped and turned to him. " Hey are you ok?" "yeah i'm fine" as the tears continued to fall. I started to run again and then i stopped and turned back around.
"Hey are you sure i can't help you? You seem upset or sad?" and then he started... "My friends left me, i don't know where i am, I don't know how to get home, my mom is going to be mad" "Well I think i can help" He explained to me that his family had just moved so he didn't know the area and he wasn't paying attention when he was walking with his new "friends". So together we figured out where he lived and I walked him all the way home it added about an extra 45 minutes to my run. But the 45 minutes was worth the smile on his face when he saw his house! So that is the story of how card number 15 picked me!!!

Fantastic. Truly. I know this card doesn't have a "Revolutionize It" option on it, but I would say you did...you not only brought a lost child home, you also showed him that the world is full of people who care. Boom Boom!

"What we must fear the most is the indifference of good men". I heard this once in a movie and it gave me chills. You stopped the cycle of indifference being perpetuated in that situation. You brought in humanity. I can't think of anything more touching and inspiring.

So wonderful and touching (tears!)--I cannot even imagine my little one feeling lost, abandoned and crying...and no one helping him! How truly compassionate of you, and what a simply good, good person you are in taking time to help--proving once again just how beautiful human beings can be! Will carry this one for a while! :) Thank you for sharing!

That was truly a lovely act of kindness. It's amazing how perfectly nice people (I'm sure) just passed right on by this child, probably dismissing his tears as his response to trivial child issues. When it actually turned out to be something that could have been very serious and something that could have left him in serious danger. Just the mere act of pursuing more information from this child, gave you such a different perspective of his situation. It shows us all how taking those few extra minutes or even seconds to check on the well-being of a fellow human being can make such an impact on someone's life. Not only on the recipient but also on the person giving of their time. What a wonderful feeling that must have been for BOTH of you. He, for having the feeling of relief and comfort in seeing his home and you, for giving him that feeling. And.......for giving all of us the wonderful feeling of knowing there are such lovely people like yourself out there.
