“Stick up for the little man.”

I have been having issues at work lately. Not directly personal until a few days ago. But prior to me becoming the center of gossip, everyone else was. These two people at work like to constantly talk about everyone when they aren't around and for a few days I didn't say anything, thinking it may just stop. But it didn't so I decided to say something. I don't think it's fair for people to get gossiped about when they don't have to ability to defend themselves. I believe that if you have an issue with someone then you should go to them directly and express what the problem is. I guess not everyone thinks that way. But I told them I didn't think it was right for them to be talking bad about people when they aren't around. I guess they didn't enjoy the fact that I stuck up for what I believe in because now they talk about me and try to cause issues. But if standing up for what I know is wrong might have helped someone else then I don't care. I am a big girl, I can handle people talking about me. I know whatever they are saying isn't true anyhow. It doesn't hurt me for them to run their mouths about false things that I never did. If it makes them feel better to down someone else, then more power to them. But I know in my heart that it isn't right to make other people feel like scum because I'm not happy with myself. I hope that maybe I taught them something but I doubt I did. People like that will never change. And I hope there are more people like me who stick up for the people who can't stick up for themselves. So if you see a situation where someone may be hurting someone else who doesn't have the self-esteem to say anything, please say something. You could be making a much bigger impact than you think. Sometimes all it takes is for someone else to believe in you for you to believe in yourself. Be that person for someone. :)
