“Ask for forgiveness and be forgiven”

Day 24 of 26

Asking for forgiveness for anything I have done or should have done or not done or should not have done. The difficulty is not always to ask for forgiveness. Sometimes it seems that the forgiving part is more difficult. Not to be forgiven even if you humbly ask if it can be tough. So tough that you might not even dare to ask for forgiveness. And you're back to square one. To say “I am sorry” and really mean it, can be as difficult as to say "I love you" the first time. It leaves you wide open to the other's positive or negative feedback and you may not know how it lands. If it is a positive response, you are proud of your courage to dare. If it is a negative feedback you can feel diminished, perhaps even less valued.

I wish that we all became better at not just say sorry, but to forgive. I tend to think of something I heard many years ago: Do you want to be right, or do you want to be happy? A new Boom Boom! card could be: Forgive someone! And really mean it. A good deed that would spread much joy, I think.
