The lifts at work are, not to put too fine a point to it, absolutely rubbish. Travelling between floors usually requires a long wait before any of the metal boxes arrive to take one on the vertical journey. Therefore it is a great act of kindness to hold the lift doors open for those who might not make it on time. The reward for this is usually a smile and sometimes the start of a conversation. An easy way to get to know others in the building. Will try to keep this going!
