My wife and I went to our local Marks & Spencer to buy a couple of items for supper last night. We took the basket to the under 5 items check out where a trainee was working. When we reached the front the trainee apologised for us having to wait in line (only two people before us). I asked him if he'd been trained to say that to everyone as it wasn't necessary. He told me he had. For someone being trained he was efficient and even told us that had we had selected particular products on which there was an offer to received another one for free. He rang the bell for someone to get that free product for us. He gave us the total amount and I paid, thanking him for his help He nodded in return and as he thanked me, he looked us both in the eyes and smiled. How rare to see someone in a shop with that level of contact. I knew the shop manager and we went to tell her that she had someone special on her team.
