Creating a Special Occasion
Everytime I meet with a friend it is a special occasion.
In our busy day to day lives I find one must create special occasions.
What makes an occasion special?
Well, being with people you care for, having conversations, sharing lifes moments, eating some good food, etc..
It doesn't have to be anything fancy; sometimes the more casual--the better!
So I met my friend for tea and cake--very special--we caught up all the news in our lives--very special and then I picked up the 'tab' and she told me she felt very special---
I think I got the better part of that deal, what say you?

Doesn't Everyone?!!
I actually did this one a couple of months ago and realized that I never posted what happened.
I did it!
I said Hi! to everyone that I met and most said hi! back, though I did get a few confused looks...
I am in New York & we do get a "bum rap" about not being friendly or caring--that is so untrue...it is that we are so dense in population (not intelligence!)that it is our way of giving 'space' & privacy until beckoned to impose ourselves.
I put doesn't everyone as my title--because since I did it that day I cannot imagine ever, ever not saying hello & smiling at everyone I meet!
I have a lot more friends and my days are all sunny, even a day like today that the weather people are saying is gray, rainy with gale force winds!
So again, I should say "Why doesn't everyone"?
It is sooooo worth it!

Showing a child how "Snail Mail" is BETTER THAN email!
I recently went to Texas (July)for a vacation and to visit with my one of my dearest friends. We have know each other since we were 14 years old and ran from dinosaurs together!
She had her Grandchildren with her. her oldest a little girl of 7, was interested in 'Hello, Kitty' stuff--anything from clothing, toys, etc.
So when I was about to leave I wanted to get her a gift; so I was seeing what her interests were.
She had mentioned that she would email me from her grandmother's computer.
I said that I would rather have a letter or card she would write me instead.
She was so confused!
She only thought bills came in the mail!
I bought her a "Hello, Kitty" stationary set with cards, , pencils, letterheads, envelopes & stickers to seal all.
She was delighted and I began getting a letter every week! She even writes notes for her 4 year old brother.
I love writing letters; I forgot how much---so MUCH better than any emails!!!
I save each one and when she is grown I will show them to her, isn't that a grand idea?!

Please AND Thank you!
I said please and thank you! I sometimes would ask for something forgetting to say please and then would add "please" and "thank you"!
This was always met with a smile and a "you're welcome" an/or a 'thank you' in return for giving that person the 'gift' of humanity---yep that's right...the lesson is 'humanity'...being human and showing our vulnerability and opening up to the possibility that please and thank you ARE very, very important ways to show each other we matter.
I am pleased to say I have incorporated this into my everyday life.
How could I not after finding out how to connect with other humans, and how GOOD, no...GREAT it feels.
